Randy Morrison

Randy (he/him) was first introduced to IPS in 2013 when he was hired as the first ever “Peer Navigator” to work in the women’s shelter in Portland, Maine, USA. This introduction was transformative in how he saw what was possible in relationships and supported him in dismantling the many harmful beliefs that had contributed to years of mental health and substance use struggles, particularly as a queer person.

After working in the shelter for a few years, Randy moved into a peer support leadership position in a large healthcare system, where he was able to build more peer support programs for communities in Maine. Within this system, Randy’s passion for structuring IPS roles with fidelity grew and his experience navigating the healthcare system’s chaos was forged.

Today, Randy provides a variety of IPS trainings in Maine, the United States, and globally. He also provides a variety of peer support leadership trainings for the state of Maine and helps build curriculums and manuals that reinforce the value and necessity of including people with lived/living experience into all conversations about them, at all levels.

Randy currently lives without a permanent home and humbly sashays around the globe connecting with a variety of communities and exploring the many landscapes gifted by the planet. And its uncooperative penguins.
